News for May- June
Another couple of months have passed and as the time goes by Arcana remains a great guild we call home. The past couple of months has seen many achievements, new members, new 80s and more progression through ICC.

Members of Arcana have been blasting through achievements.
We’ve had a couple members finish the year long world feat quest “What a strange trip it’s been” This achievement requires the player to successfully complete all of the world event quests such as the Lunar festival, Children’s week, and Noblegarden. The prize for completing the year long events is a purple proto drake at 310% speed. It’s a wonderful mount for an achievement that takes a lot of dedication to work through. Congrats to those who have accomplished this feat. Also, thanks mainly to the weekly raid quests, several guildies picked up their “champion of the frozen wastes” titles” as well as “of the Nightfall” “LoreMaster” and Twilight Vanquisher. Congrats to those who have attached these titles above their names.

Like most guilds in the lands Arcanapocolypse has seen some new members arrive and have had some members depart for other adventures. We would like to welcome those new to Arcana and would like to give our best wishes to those who have departed in the last couple months. We hope to continue to grow, not only as a guild but as a group of friends that come to WOW to get together and take a break from the stress of the “real world”.

On a more personal note, some of our members have had the great pleasure to meet each other in the “real world” at various get-togethers’ A group of 5-7 members met at a local watering hole, 2-3 got to meet Kayoni on her way back through town, and Kaline and Amyran were able to meet up with NBK for some fun during a conference. These kinds of events are one reason that I think Arcana is different than most guilds. Not only do we play a game with each other, most of our members take time out of their real lives to meet other and honestly show a concern for each other.

The Alt fever has infected Arcanapocolypse!!!
We have had a couple players get some alts to level 80 and many more are on the way. This will go a long way to help us get back into some of the lower level content to help the new 80s out. Congrats to all those who have put the time in to bring multiple characters to 80.

Marching forward through Ice Crown Citadel.
As our members continue to get better gear we have seen more and more members make their way through ICC. Many members have found some good PUGs to run both 10 man and 25 man ICC instances with. More and more bosses have seen their doom at the hands of our members. As a guild we recently cleared the entire first wing in ICC 10 in less than 2 hours with zero wipes. Arcana is not a serious raiding guild but it goes to show that given a little time we can advance through any instance as a guild when time permits us to be together. I look forward to the day when I can congratulate one of our own when they receive the title of “The Kingslayer”.

New Advisors named for Arcana.
Just last week we named two players as new advisors to our queen Kaline and the guild. Two openings were posted to the guild about a month ago and volunteers were evaluated and accepted. The advisor roles were filled by Isavelyn and Adania. Isavelyn has accepted the role of Raid Leader and is already full steam ahead on planning and organizing fun and challenging raids for the guild to participate in. Isa has a natural ability to organize successful raids and we all look forward to what she has planned for us. Adania accepted the role of Guild Social Convener. She is very excited about the opportunity that she has been given and I’m sure has many wonderful and fun things for the guild to be involved in. She is currently making plans and taking suggestions for social events that will start in the fall. If you have any raid suggestions or social activity suggestions please feel free to contact these two fine ladies and let them know what you had in mind.

Thank you Kayoni and NBK.

Recently Kayoni and NBK stepped down as guild advisors. I would like to send my personal thanks out to them both for the hard work, time, and effort they put in for the betterment of the guild. Kayoni has done most of the work on our website that we all love. She constantly gave solid advice on guild matters as well as kept up one of the nicest guild websites in the lands. Thank you Kayoni.
NBK was our guild social coordinator and a dedicated advisor. NBK spent countless hours planning guild events and raids for us to complete as a guild. His events went a long way in establishing many of the personal bonds we have with each other as we play WOW. His unlimited knowledge and sound advice went along way making Arcana the great guild it is. Thank you NBK.

It’s Summer time!
I want to wrap up the news for May-June with some final thoughts. As the windows go up and an in some cases the A/C gets turned on. We can look outside and see flowers blooming, green leaves forming on the trees, kids on bikes, lawn mowers buzzing, and BBQ grills getting fired up. We are all starting to shake off the winter cold and are trading our heavy coats and hats in for light jackets and shorts. This means that playing WOW often takes a backseat to getting outside and enjoying our world while we can. I’m sure that players will start noticing that people aren’t playing as much as normal. This is expected and encouraged. Summer time is a time to get together with friends and families, taking vacations, and for spending late evenings eating ice cream outside on the patio with a warm breeze blowing. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe summer. If you can’t be around as much as normal we all understand and wish everyone a joyous time out and about.

PS. If anyone has something they feel should be put in the news section of the forums please let myself or Kaline know and we’ll make sure that it gets put in the next available month.

Your Humble King,
Celare

News for March and April 2010

Your king has been traveling the lands and has not had much time to sit and contemplate his thoughts in regards to the news. For this I apologize and will try to post my thoughts soon.

Much has happened for Arcanapocolypse in the last couple months. It has been a fun and very active time for this wonderful guild. We celebrated our two year anniversary as a guild, added more members to our rolls, had more alts work their way up, grabbed many new achievements and made our way through the first 3 bosses in ICC 10.

Let me start with the grand celebration that was Arcanapocolypse’s 2nd anniversary. It was a great full week celebration. We had fishing contests, completed some classic raids and OL dungeons, set off tons of fireworks and was noticed by the entire realm. I personally would like to thank NBK for putting together such a grand week. I know that it took lots of time, thought, and gold (out of his own pocket). I also would like to thank all those who participated in the events. We had several show up for the fishing contest, trivia games, and classic raids and lit up several different towns with an amazing display of fireworks and magic. At the end of the week, NBK held a drawing to give away the keys to a chopper. Adania was the lucky guildie who drove off into the Dalaran sunset on her new bike.

Arcana advances into ICC.
Over the last weekend here, arcane has progressed quite nicely through the halls of ICC. Lord Marrowgar, the first boss went down on the first try. The guild quickly cleared trash and reloaded for Lady Deathwhisper. After 2-3 tries she too fell at the feet of the heros of Arcanapocolypse. Even though it was getting late, the guild worked it’s way to the Skybreaker gunship and got familiar with the workings of the fight. After a good nights sleep, Arcana gave it another try and beat down the hordes ship. Not wanting to stop there the guild took an afternoon break and went on to face Deathbringer Saurfang. This powerful Orc posed some problems for the guild but like the others before him, with some practice, he too will meet his demise. I’d like to thank those who participate in the raids. I know we don’t always have the right number of classes for the fight or can’t always have the same people in the raids but I think we do a good job working with what we have and keep at it until we succeed. I know some of you all still aren’t using the raid sign up on the site much, but as we keep progressing through ICC I think that will start filling up even faster so if you think you can make it of even if you’d like to but aren’t sure, just throw a note up on the sign up sheet so we all know. Also if a raid time never seems to work for the hours you play , please post on the website or talk to Gekers, Kaline, or myself and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
I think we’ll get deeper and deeper into ICC and I can’t wait for the day when the Lich King himself meets his doom.

It was a busy but fun two months for our guild. As always, I look forward to playing more WOW and more importantly I always look forward spending time with each other as a guild. That is all I have for now. If you have something you’d like to have posted in the news please just send me an in game mail or a PM on the forums.

Your Humble King,
Celare

The fall of Ignis, Alts getting to 80, and more. Ignis meets his doom
02/15/10 11:42 AM by Kaline

Down, down, down goes the evil fire monster known as Ignis the furnace master.

While some of our esteemed guildies have had the pleasure of seeing the furnace master fall, Arcanapocolypse has not been able to drop the smelting pot wearing as a collective guild after several tries…until… a few nights ago..
A group of 7 members of Arcanapocolypse and 3 folks from other noble guilds walked into Ulduar with high hopes and cautious expectations.

There he was, Ignis, working diligently at his forge of destruction. Little did he know he had just tempered his last piece. Armed with powerful melee, extraordinary healing abilities, and vicious ranged attacks the 10 person group picked a fight with the monster that is Ignis.

So the fight began. The Tank warrior kept him occupied while a well-armored Paly lured Ignis’s fiends into his own fire only be destroyed quickly by the devastating ranged arcane attacks. Ignis constantly scooped up members of the group and threw them into the soldering pot that hangs from his belt. Thinking those that were cast into the pot was not coming out, Ignis continued to rain down fire upon the small group of adventurer’s. Imagine the surprise when Ignis looked down in his pot and noticed those he had thrown inside where no longer there and those that he kept throwing in, continued to have their life force given back to them quicker then he could take it.

Bit by bit the onslaught on Ignis continued. No matter how hard Ignus hit the puny warrior in front of him or how many fiends he summoned to life, the life of the hero’s continued to replenish and Ignis’s own life slowly dwindled away.
Finally the last bit of life was replenished, and the final spells were cast. The last slash of a dagger and sword, and the blows of a mace hit their deadly marks, the giant of fire and metal stooped to one knee, then another, and soon after dropped lifeless to the floor. Ignus had met his match. VICTORY at LAST !!!

Congratulations to those who had previously conquered Ignis as well as the group of 7 who bravely took on the challenge that is Ignis and walked out of Ulduar victorious.

The long road to 80 complete!

The members of Arcanapocolypse would like to send out congratulations to those of the guild who committed themselves to start a character from scratch and get them to level 80. The following are those who recently worked either a main or alt up to level 80. (If I missed anyone who recently hit 80 I apologize).

NBK worked up his Human Priest “ FatherNBK”.
Enjela brought up a Dranei shaman by the name Lucilalenore. Most call her “Lucy”
Gerkers, wants to try his hand at tanking and brought up a Human Warrior to level 80.

Celare went out of his comfort zone and traded in his plate for some cloth and worked up a human Warlock named “Harkell”.
A job well done to you all.

Meetings, events and other news.

The leadership of Arcanapocolypse held an advisors meeting last month and many issues were discussed. One of the topics discussed were giving assigned tasks to the advisors. The advisors volunteered to handle a variety of things including, handling raids, meeting and greeting new members, writing news articles, etc.

Also discussed were plans to hold a one-week celebration in honor of arcanapocolypse’s 2-year anniversary as a guild. NBK is spearheading the effort and more information will follow, so stay tuned to the boards.

That about wraps up the news for now. Stay tuned for more news as it happens.

October's Officer's meeting
11/27/09 05:17 PM by Amyran

Well it's a little late, but I'm finally getting around to posting the minutes from October's officer's meeting.

Because the actual minutes are lengthy, i will post a summary of decisions only.

As of now, the nine notes below should be considered as guild policy. Ideally, this information would be posted on a new members page. Since we don't have such a page, this will serve as a notice for the time being.

1. Officer meetings will be held every month from October forward. They will occur near the end of the month.

2. We will schedule a raid at least every other week.

3. The process for adding yourself to a raid will be via the website calander. Those signed up on the website will be given priority over those who only sign up on the in-game calander.

4. The process for joining guild heroic runs, if there are more than five online who wish to participate, will be to roll for available spots. Only in the circumstance of having a single player online who can fill a required spot in the party shall there be an exception (example : healer, tank). There should be no favoritism shown in this process.

5. If you sign up for a raid, you are expected to be there. Do not sign up for a raid if you are unsure you can commit at least three hours. On the same note, do not /roll for heroics if you are unsure you can commit to them. Do not sign up for a raid if you are not eligible for the raid as per your gearscore. We recognize that gearscore may not be the best way to rate a player, but because to does offer a standard for comparison, we shall use it until a better system is in place. Feel free to sign up for any raid, even if you do not need the gear. We ask that players please show additional consideration towards those who need the gear or emblems, but the website raid signup will represent the final roster for a raid or event.

The following should be observed as our code of conduct

1. Respect other guild members, even if you don't personally like them. Do not cause drama in either guild chat, or general chat. Our members should not do anything that makes WOW less enjoyable for any other players. This applies to voice chat in Ventrilo as well as in game chat. Always be aware that The World of Warcraft is a game, and other players are here to have fun, just like you are.

2. If you have a problem with a guild member and you can’t deal with it cordially yourself, talk to the guild leader. The guild leader will speak to other members on your behalf. Please remember, we will likely kick anyone who is seen to be causing repeated unwarranted drama.

3. Please restrict the use of colorful language in guild chat. Swearing does not impress anyone, and is not considered mature behaviour. Please to not swear over voice-chat, some members may have children present. We recognize that sometimes this happens by accident, but we will call out those members who are seen as having trouble controling their language.

4. Members will get one warning before they are disciplined. Discipline will come in the form of demotion, or being kicked from the guild. Officers will discuss discipline before it is given. Officers will not discuss discipline until at least half of the officers are present during the discussion. The guild leaders are the only members who can kick a player from the guild without discussion. Guild leaders will consider officer decisions and discussions, or lack thereof, at all times.

5. Unless other arrangements are made, inactive members will be demoted to "inactive" after 90 days, and be kicked from the guild after one year. If ranked inactive for six months, members wishing to move out of the inactive rank will only receive a promotion to the lowest regular guild rank. This formula is subject to future changes.

Next meeting is on Nov 27th. Minutes will be posted in December.
