The fall of Ignis, Alts getting to 80, and more. Ignis meets his doom
|
Down, down, down goes the evil fire monster known as Ignis the furnace master.
While some of our esteemed guildies have had the pleasure of seeing the furnace master fall, Arcanapocolypse has not been able to drop the smelting pot wearing as a collective guild after several tries…until… a few nights ago..
A group of 7 members of Arcanapocolypse and 3 folks from other noble guilds walked into Ulduar with high hopes and cautious expectations.
There he was, Ignis, working diligently at his forge of destruction. Little did he know he had just tempered his last piece. Armed with powerful melee, extraordinary healing abilities, and vicious ranged attacks the 10 person group picked a fight with the monster that is Ignis.
So the fight began. The Tank warrior kept him occupied while a well-armored Paly lured Ignis’s fiends into his own fire only be destroyed quickly by the devastating ranged arcane attacks. Ignis constantly scooped up members of the group and threw them into the soldering pot that hangs from his belt. Thinking those that were cast into the pot was not coming out, Ignis continued to rain down fire upon the small group of adventurer’s. Imagine the surprise when Ignis looked down in his pot and noticed those he had thrown inside where no longer there and those that he kept throwing in, continued to have their life force given back to them quicker then he could take it.
Bit by bit the onslaught on Ignis continued. No matter how hard Ignus hit the puny warrior in front of him or how many fiends he summoned to life, the life of the hero’s continued to replenish and Ignis’s own life slowly dwindled away.
Finally the last bit of life was replenished, and the final spells were cast. The last slash of a dagger and sword, and the blows of a mace hit their deadly marks, the giant of fire and metal stooped to one knee, then another, and soon after dropped lifeless to the floor. Ignus had met his match. VICTORY at LAST !!!
Congratulations to those who had previously conquered Ignis as well as the group of 7 who bravely took on the challenge that is Ignis and walked out of Ulduar victorious.
The long road to 80 complete!
The members of Arcanapocolypse would like to send out congratulations to those of the guild who committed themselves to start a character from scratch and get them to level 80. The following are those who recently worked either a main or alt up to level 80. (If I missed anyone who recently hit 80 I apologize).
NBK worked up his Human Priest “ FatherNBK”.
Enjela brought up a Dranei shaman by the name Lucilalenore. Most call her “Lucy”
Gerkers, wants to try his hand at tanking and brought up a Human Warrior to level 80.
Celare went out of his comfort zone and traded in his plate for some cloth and worked up a human Warlock named “Harkell”.
A job well done to you all.
Meetings, events and other news.
The leadership of Arcanapocolypse held an advisors meeting last month and many issues were discussed. One of the topics discussed were giving assigned tasks to the advisors. The advisors volunteered to handle a variety of things including, handling raids, meeting and greeting new members, writing news articles, etc.
Also discussed were plans to hold a one-week celebration in honor of arcanapocolypse’s 2-year anniversary as a guild. NBK is spearheading the effort and more information will follow, so stay tuned to the boards.
That about wraps up the news for now. Stay tuned for more news as it happens.

October's Officer's meeting
|
Well it's a little late, but I'm finally getting around to posting the minutes from October's officer's meeting.
Because the actual minutes are lengthy, i will post a summary of decisions only.
As of now, the nine notes below should be considered as guild policy. Ideally, this information would be posted on a new members page. Since we don't have such a page, this will serve as a notice for the time being.
1. Officer meetings will be held every month from October forward. They will occur near the end of the month.
2. We will schedule a raid at least every other week.
3. The process for adding yourself to a raid will be via the website calander. Those signed up on the website will be given priority over those who only sign up on the in-game calander.
4. The process for joining guild heroic runs, if there are more than five online who wish to participate, will be to roll for available spots. Only in the circumstance of having a single player online who can fill a required spot in the party shall there be an exception (example : healer, tank). There should be no favoritism shown in this process. If there is an officer online, they will assist in making the determination, if needed, about an individual's eligibilty to participate in a dungeon, and that determination will be in the form of a gear check. If no officer or guild leader is present, then general consensus shall prevail.
5. If you sign up for a raid, you are expected to be there. Do not sign up for a raid if you are unsure you can commit at least three hours. On the same note, do not /roll for heroics if you are unsure you can commit to them. Do not sign up for a raid if you are not eligible for the raid as per your gearscore. We recognize that gearscore may not be the best way to rate a player, but because to does offer a standard for comparison, we shall use it until a better system is in place. Feel free to sign up for any raid, even if you do not need the gear. We ask that players please show additional consideration towards those who need the gear or emblems, but the website raid signup will represent the final roster for a raid or event.
The following should be observed as our code of conduct
1. Respect other guild members, even if you don't personally like them. Do not cause drama in either guild chat, or general chat. Our members should not do anything that makes WOW less enjoyable for any other players. This applies to voice chat in Ventrilo as well as in game chat. Always be aware that The World of Warcraft is a game, and other players are here to have fun, just like you are.
2. If you have a problem with a guild member and you can’t deal with it cordially yourself, talk to the guild leader. The guild leader will speak to other members on your behalf. Please remember, we will likely kick anyone who is seen to be causing repeated unwarranted drama.
3. Please restrict the use of colorful language in guild chat. Swearing does not impress anyone, and is not considered mature behaviour. Please to not swear over voice-chat, some members may have children present. We recognize that sometimes this happens by accident, but we will call out those members who are seen as having trouble controling their language.
4. Members will get one warning before they are disciplined. Discipline will come in the form of demotion, or being kicked from the guild. Officers will discuss discipline before it is given. Officers will not discuss discipline until at least half of the officers are present during the discussion. The guild leaders are the only members who can kick a player from the guild without discussion. Guild leaders will consider officer decisions and discussions, or lack thereof, at all times.
5. Unless other arrangements are made, inactive members will be demoted to "inactive" after 90 days, and be kicked from the guild after one year. If ranked inactive for six months, members wishing to move out of the inactive rank will only receive a promotion to the lowest regular guild rank. This formula is subject to future changes.
Next meeting is on Nov 27th. Minutes will be posted in December. |

News for November!
|
It's already nearly December!
This has been an exciting month for Arcanapocolypse. I've learned that our guild name is spelled wrong! It should be Arcanapocalypse. Who knew? Not me... We held an emergency officer's meeting to discuss all our options, but decided in the end that it's all good just to leave the name alone. Emergency meetings, being the very serious events they are, always end in firm decisions and forward thinking resolutions. Hurray for us!
Gratz to all the achievement runners in our guild who completed the Pilgrim's Bounty meta achievement, and are proud owners of a new title, and vanity pet!
There have been some exciting changes to the guild website! We're also looking at the possibility of redesigning the website entirely, so stay tuned for that! New this month, is a Blog, where one day, you will find many interesting articles and musings. The Royal corner is where our leaders will add their thoughts about our time spent online. Last month, I failed to mention that NBK started up a facebook group for us. It's sort of neat to see a different side of each other's lives.
We're still looking to add more geared level 80's to the guild, but we're at the point where we don't have to PUG 10 man raids anymore. This is a very exciting place for Arcanapocolypse. We have a few players graduating to level 80 very soon who will be welcome additions to the Heroic's, and hopefully soon, the raiding teams. If we all drink our milk, we'll all grow up strong!
November also saw us revisit two classic raids, Aq20 and Molton Core.
Achievements to be had for all! These original raids don't take very long, and the few of us who missed out, as well as guildies with alts at the appropriate level, should make a point of adding these raids to the calender, because they're a ton of fun!
We're trying to focus on gearing up our offtanks during the month of December.
Celare, who has been shouldering most of the main tank duties for us, won't be around for much of January. So lend a hand if you can, to our plate wearing brethren!
Congratulations to Sicario (Ker) for reaching level 80!

Good times Shall be had by all
|
There's been some changes in Arcanapocolypse over the past month.
First of all, a big shout out to all our new members. Everyone seems pretty cool, and we're looking forward to hanging out, runnin' raids and grinding quests with all of you.
Congratulations to everyone who managed the entire Halloween achievement this year! Vorust got his meta achievement with the completion of Halloween, and won himself a shiny 310% speed proto-drake!
The last news item was talking about NAXX 10, and suffice to say we had a good time running that instance. We'll be re-visiting NAXX from time to time, as other guild members and alts look to equip level 200 epic gear. Those of us who have been 80 for awhile have moved to Ulduar 10, and are enjoying expected success. Many of us are scoring well over 2300 (gear score http://www.wow-heroes.com/) and are looking at 25 man Trial of the Crusader with solid expectations.
We're also playing with the guild tabard a little bit. Many level 80's don't wear non reputation tabards for obvious reasons. If you like to wear the
guild tabard, please tell us what you think!
We are using the website calander extensivly now. Many of us feel that it is a superior method of scheduling raids, and we encourage people to sign up for events on the website, as well as on the in game calander. If you didn't know already, the website confirmations will be used if there is any conflict between the two calanders. So if you really want to go on a particular raid, you would be wise to use the website calander! I believe anyone can schedule an event on both calanders. Even if it's for low level stuff, please feel free to schedule your own event! Many of us, even those of us who have been playing a long time, have skipped lower level instances and raids, and we would like the opportunity for the achievment points!
We have subscribed to a professional VENT server now, at a minimal cost. It's only a 25 slot server at the moment, but if we feel that there is cause, and it's heavily used, I'm sure we can upgrade the subscription. Blizzard does not make forty man raids anymore, so we don't know that there is cause for more than twenty five slots. This is something we will be monitoring closely over the next year. The VENT server is not charged per use, so don't feel that you shouldn't use it. Please use it as much as possible! Please do not give out our VENT server to other players. We absolutly do not mind hosting guests / PUG's on our server, but it is intended primarily for our guilds use.
As always, send Kaline your votes for Guild member of the month!

Its time to take on Naxx!!
|
Ok guys, its time we start our Guild Naxx runs. So here's what we need to do to prepare for the run.
1. We need your commitment to actually run the instance.
2. We need you all to listen to instructions on how to proceed with bosses/trash mobs. Even the mobs are quite a challenge in Naxx.
3. We will be running vent to communicate. If you have not installed it please do so. Here is the direct link to install: http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
4. It will take us quite a long time, so if you do not have several hours to learn/progress, please do not sign up to come.
5. Here is what we will need: 3 healers, 2 tanks(MT and OT), 5 DPS
6. Please send NBK (Vorust) your confirmation, either via in game mail or sign up on the forums page.
7. You are all encouraged to read up on Naxx ahead of time. You can get hints on your role for bosses and for other kills. It's good to go in knowing everything. http://www.wowwiki.com/Naxxramas.
We will take things nice and slow. Expect wipes(many times) as we are all learning how we all work together and the difficulty of the instance.
LOOT RULES
If you require an item or its an upgrade you will get priority. If no one needs the item for your Main spec, off spec will have a chance on rolling. If no one need the item at all, the item will be DE'd and total DE'd materials will be evenly distributed among the raid group. In the event that there is not an even loot distribution regarding DE'd materials, we will all roll, top rolls wins the DE'd mats. For example, 6 Void Crystals; top 6 rolls will win a crystal each.
You can also check out the gear ahead of time at http://www.wowhead.com/?zone=3456 so you are prepared for the gear you are wanting.
I hope you guys are just as excited as I as, because I have been waiting to do this for a long time with you all.
We will do our 1st run on Saturday May 23rd, 2009 at 1:00PM Server Time. Please allot approximately 4 hours.
We will attempt 1 or 2 quarters depending on how we progress 3 or full clear. By this date, we should have 16 or so level 80 guildmates (some of which are our alts) so we should have enough to run it.
I will be asking Joynal to join us on our run as she will be main heals, as well as an experienced and knoledgable friend who can help us run smoothly.
That's about it!! See you in Naxx!!
